What type of mobile phone do I need to use abroad?

You must determine what type of mobile phone signal frequencies are available in the country or countries you will be visiting. This will enable you to know if you will need a dual band phone, a tri band phone, a quad band phone, or a 3G unit.

Will my Laptop computer work abroad?

There are two aspects to consider here, working offline, such as using your Laptop to write diaries, to download pictures, and to play music and films etc. Yes, providing you have a power source, e.g. battery and charger, or mains lead with suitable adaptor, your computer will work in all countries.

For internet use however, you will need to establish a link with a mobile internet provider. Wi-fi hot spots are the easiest and cheapest options, closely followed by using the services of an internet cafe, or hotel service.
